The city is governed by the Common Council made up of 6 Alderpersons, and the Mayor.  The City Council meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month at 7:00 p.m at City Hall.

Various committees and Commissions are: Planning Commission, Industrial Park Board; Parks and Recreation Committees; Swimming Pool and Public Safety Committees; Library and Fire District Boards, and the Utility, Streets, Finance and Public Property Committess.
